The Study was made in December 2014, with the support of the Open Society Foundation.

The large audience, who actively took part in the debate, consisted of representatives of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, National Councils, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Government, the Ministry of Culture and Information, Ministry of Education, Office for Human and Minority Rights, Ombudsman, non-governmental organizations, minority associations and the media.
The Study, Behind the Mirror, was created on the basis of observation with participation, interviews with the participants of the electoral process and interviews with those belonging to national minorities who did not want to take part in the elections, the official statistical sources, the media reports, content from social networks.The use of multiple ways and sources of data collection has enabled control of the truthfulness of the contents of each, as well as the control of the reliability and validity of observations made by our observers.
The authors of the Study, Andrej Kubiček, MA, Snežana Ilić, MA and Dr. Vladimir Ilić, applied discourse analysis. All three co-authors independently accessed the material in its original form, and then advised and corrected each other.
